Paranormal Activity

Magnolia Mansion, despite its close proximity to American Horror Story's Buckner Mansion, is possibly the most haunted place to stay in New Orleans.

Things happen here, things that defy conventional explanation. Guests share many stories about unexplained occurrences. They've reported seeing reflections in mirrors, lights turned off turn back on, doors open unexpectedly, sounds of children giggling when none are here, and breezes moving through rooms on calm nights. We can't be sure what is going on, but we've taken the precaution of blocking out Holloween for only our most fearless guests.

Local Attractions

Located just across Canal Street from the French Quarter is the Garden District. Here, you'll find many of New Orleans' most iconic attractions. The area has some of the best-preserved mansions in the country, including the Brevard-Rice House, Gilmour-Parker House, and the Bradish Johnson House.

Exploring the Garden District is a breeze. You can use the Saint Charles Streetcar line, which regularly runs through the district. Or, you can schedule a tour with local tour guides. You can also walk to the nearby Lafayette Cemetery No. 1, which contains over 1,000 tombs, and is included in the National Register of Historic Places.

You can visit world-renowned restaurants for lunch or dinner, like Commander's Palace and Casamento's, or local favorites, like Lilette and Coquette. Alternatively, the nearby Magazine street has a variety of excellent choices for all palettes.

If it's live music you seek, then you are unlikely to leave the mansion as national acts and the city's best artists often perform on property.

Reviews

I was excited to find a unique, historic spot to stay in New Orleans, and Magnolia Mansion exceeded my expectations. I was glad to be in a lovely, safe neighborhood just a block away from the St. Charles streetcar line and good coffee shops. The tall ceilings, stately entrance hall, and large living rooms made me feel like I was transported to another time in New Orleans history. The staff was gracious and helpful. My room also felt grand (and was very clean), and the bed was very comfortable. I especially loved my luxuriously large bathtub and look forward to my return.
